ACS believes Christians must acknowledge that all truth, knowledge, and wisdom ultimately come from God. God, as revealed in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ and through the Bible, is the center of all we do and believe at ACS. Our program is designed to provide an alternative to the godless, humanistic education in the public sector. The personal salvation and sanctification of each student is our primary concern.
Our objectives include teaching a Christian orientation to all thinking wherein God is central and Biblical principles are paramount; intellectually challenging our students academically in a supportive competitive learning environment; training them socially to become responsible Christian adults; encouraging students to understand and accept Christian culture patterns; and providing opportunities that require physical involvement. For a more complete list, please reference the Objectives section of our handbook.
Our academic goal is to provide students with the skills necessary to function successfully in this world, whether they pursue college or technical school after high school or enter the work world. Anchorage Christian Schools has an excellent college preparatory course of study.
All secondary students have the same basic guidelines for discipline, dress code, and class periods. They also have the same basic core courses of math, English, social studies, science, and Bible. At the junior high level, we round out their education with electives in keyboarding, choir and band, physical education, and Wilderness studies. At the senior high level, the elective choices expand to include learning Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint), Spanish I, II & III, orchestra, band, choir, drama, speech, creative writing, SAT Prep, PE, office aide and teacher aide opportunities, and yearbook.
Twenty three (23) credits are required for graduation from ACS. The departmental distribution is as follows: 4 credits of English,
4 credits of Bible,
4 credits of social studies,
2 credits of mathematics,
2 credits of science,
1 credit of physical education and
6 credits of Electives.
