W e have heard people say that the best way to prepare children for the anti-Christian world in which we live is to educate them in a non-Christian environment. Nothing could be further from the truth.

T he facts are clear. Those who are educated in Christian schools are better able to handle the storms of life, because they have a foundation in Christ and His Word. Anchorage Christian Schools is an extension of the Christian home and a partner with evangelical churches in the Christian education of children. That is the firm foundation upon which to build lives.

T he Bible actually tells us that on this earth is warfare, and we must be prepared to fight against the wiles of the devil. The Word tells us to "not be conformed to this world . . . ." in Romans 12:2.

D r. Paul Kienel has written a pamphlet entitled "Basic Questions and Answers about Christian Schools." In it he quotes Timothy Dwight, former President of Yale University, who said, "Education ought everywhere to be religious education . . . parents are bound to employ no instructors who will not educate their children religiously. To commit our children to the care of irreligious persons is to commit lambs to the superintendency of wolves."

S ome Christian parents feel that their children should be "salt and light" in the public school system. Dr. Kienel wrote in another pamphlet, ". . . I find no command in Scripture, clearly stated or implied, which implores us to use Christian children and young people who are not as yet mature in their faith, to do spiritual battle with non-Christian agnostic teachers . . . There are numerous teachers and principals who are Christians in public education who demonstrate daily that the Light of the Gospel of Christ can shine in the very dark corners of our society." We greatly appreciate the stand they take for Christ. Many of them have their own children in ACS.

D r. Kienel goes on to state, "We are specifically directed in Scripture to bring children 'up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord' (Ephesians 6:4). I challenge anyone to justify with Biblical authority the idea of placing Christian children under the instruction of non-Christian teachers who instruct them in concepts which are not pleasing to the Lord." In Luke 6:40 the Bible states that when a student is fully trained he will be like his teacher. Dr. Kienal says, "Simply put, if you want your children to live as Christians, they must be taught by Christians."

N o matter how financially difficult it might be for you, your child's education must be received in a Christ-centered environment that is conducive to learning.

Y ou have only one chance to educate your child. Do not commit him or her to the "superintendency of wolves," but to an environment where he or she can receive the proper foundation for the rough seas in life.

Y our best chance of seeing your child come to know Christ as Savior, grow spiritually, and receive some direction in life, is through Anchorage Christian Schools. Christian teachers and Christian parents are the role models every child needs.
